Directed IR Countermeasures (DIRCM) solutions are designed to protect aircraft against heat-seeking ground-to-air missiles. These systems integrate advanced fiber laser technology together with a high frame rate thermal camera and a small, highly dynamic mirror turret.

The systems utilize an open architecture design and can be seamlessly integrated on any type of aircraft. Elbit Systems’ Directed IR Countermeasures solutions have been selected by the Israeli government to protect commercial Israeli airliners, by the Italian Air Force to protect the C27J, C130J and AW101 helicopter platforms and by the Brazilian Air Force to protect the KC-390 aircraft.

MUSIC™

is a family of high-performance, laser-based Directed IR Countermeasure solutions designed to protect aircraft against heat-seeking ground-to-air missiles. Multi Spectral Infrared Countermeasures (MUSIC) counters the threats of surface-to-air IR missiles and protects passenger, VIP and transport aircraft, as well as attack and utility helicopters. MUSIC can be installed on the full range of military and commercial aircraft without any negative impact on the platform’s performance.

J-MUSIC

 is an advanced Directed IR Countermeasures system that is optimized to protect large aircraft, including transports, tankers, special mission platforms, VIP jets and others.  C-MUSIC

is the world’s first Directed IR Countermeasures system installed on transport aircraft in regular commercial service. C-MUSIC is designed specifically to protect large transport-category aircraft from heat-seeking ground-to-air missiles (MANPADS). C-MUSIC employs a fiber laser-based, DIRCM technology originally developed for military aircraft and helicopters.

IR SENSORS FOR MISSILE APPROACH WARNING SYSTEM

Protecting aircraft against IR guided missiles depends both on reliable detection and warning sensors, as well as effective electronic countermeasures (ECM). Elbit Systems’ warning and tracking sensors include cutting-edge architecture that delivers longer protection ranges and improved performance, supporting mission success and a safe return of the aircraft and crew.

The sensors can be integrated in a range of EW self-protection suites and installed on a wide variety of aircraft. The sensors offer both single and dual color sensors, as well as both warning and tracking sensors (as part of DIRCM systems). Elbit Systems’ sensors are off-the-shelf products and fully operational with customers worldwide
